ISMPP Authorship Algorithm Tool

📋 How to Use This Tool

Purpose: This tool helps quantify contributor contributions based on ICMJE Criterion 1 to assist with authorship decisions for medical publications.

Steps:

  1. Create a new project for your publication
  2. Select the study type (Preclinical, Clinical, RWE/HEOR, or Reviews) - each has recommended weightings
  3. Add contributors and answer 9 questions about their contributions using the 1-5 scale
  4. Review the automatically ranked results based on weighted scores
  5. Export results as CSV for your records

Scoring Guide: For each question, select 1-5 based on the level of contribution. Scores are summed within each ICMJE category and multiplied by the category weight.

Note: This tool addresses ICMJE Criterion 1 (substantial contributions). Contributors must still fulfill the remaining three ICMJE criteria: drafting/critical review, final approval, and accountability.
